The last 10 greyhounds adopted overseas left the kennels of the now defunct dog racetrack in Fai Chi Kei Tuesday, Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) President José Maria da Fonseca Tavares said.

The around 500 greyhounds remaining in their original Canidrome kennels can still be adopted, irrespective of possible legal action by the government against Macau (Yat Yuen) Canidrome Co. Ltd., Anima President Albano Martins said Thursday.
Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau (IACM) Administrative Committee member Ung Sau Hong said Thursday that the 533 greyhounds left behind by the owners of the now-defunct Canidrome are in good health, and that the conditions of the kennel facilities are improving.
The Commission Against Corruption (CCAC) told local media Wednesday that it had received a complaint earlier in the day about the ongoing process of looking after the greyhounds left behind at the closed Canidrome and their relocation.
The operator of the city’s former greyhound racetrack – Macau (Yat Yuen) Canidrome Co. Ltd. – and local animal protection group Anima have inked a deal for the relocation of the racing dogs left behind at the Fai Chi Kei racetrack.
The Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau (IACM) said in a statement that it is studying a greyhound relocation proposal submitted by Macau (Yat Yuen) Canidrome Co. Ltd. Thursday evening which proposes to relocate the dogs left behind at the Fai Chi Kei racetrack to a “vacant” building on a privately-owned plot of land in Pac On in Taipa.
The Macau (Yat Yuen) Canidrome Co. Ltd. has abandoned 533 greyhounds at the Canidrome on Friday night after the government refused their proposal to keep the Canidrome operational in order to keep the animals.
The Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau said in a statement that it “condemns” the Macau (Yat Yuen) Canidrome Co. Ltd. for “shirking” its responsibility to house its greyhounds after it had received a letter from the company proposing the “reversion” of the dogs to the government after the official closure of the racetrack .
