New vehicle registrations drop 26 pct in April

New motor vehicle registrations fell by 26.1 percent year-on-year to 906 in April, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) has announced.

New motor vehicle registrations fell by 26.1 percent year-on-year to 906 in April, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) has announced.

New registrations of heavy motorcycles (481) and light automobiles (385) dropped by 24.1 percent and 27.8 percent respectively.

In the first four months of the year, new motor vehicle registrations decreased by 25.7 percent year-on-year to 4,000.

At the end of April, the number of licensed motor vehicles stood at 238,289, down by 176 vehicles year-on-year. Light automobiles and heavy motorcycles accounted for 45.3 percent and 41.1 percent of the total number.

The number of traffic accidents decreased by 9.6 percent year-on-year to 932 in April, involving 338 casualties, one of them fatal. On average, the police recorded 31 traffic accidents a day in April. Between January and April, there were 4,116 traffic accidents, involving 1,428 casualties.(Macaunews)
