Macau’s estimated unemployment rate has remained at a record low 1.7 percent during the past five months, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) said yesterday.

According to a DSEC statement, the city’s total labour force stood at 387,600 in the March-May employment survey period. Total employment reached 381,100. The labour force participation rate amounted to 73.3 percent.

Employment in the construction sector rose 6.1 percent from the February-April period, totalling 48,300.

The estimated number of unemployed remained unchanged at 6,400 during the five-month period.
