Criminal Investigation Judge issues ‘preventative detention order’ for Sun City’s CEO Alvin Chau

After being interrogated for more than 14 hours at the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), Sun City’s CEO Alvin Chau Cheok Wa has been sent to the Coloane prison this morning for preventive detention, Radio Macau has reported.

Alvin Chau, who was detained on Saturday, is suspected of being involved in organised crime, illegal gambling and money laundering.

Besides Chau, the Judiciary Police announced on Sunday that the case involves 10 other people who were presented to the MP. They are a 37-year-old man surnamed Si Tou, a 56-year-old man surnamed Cheong, a 38-year-old man surnamed Ma, a 46-year-old man surnamed Cheong, a 37-year-old man surnamed Leong, a 30-year-old woman surnamed Ho, a 36-year-old man surnamed Lui, a 40-year-old Hong Kong man surnamed Chow, a 57-year-old man surnamed Vong and a 37-year-old woman surnamed Wong.
