Resort developer Banyan Tree formally unveiled its new Zhuhai property at a ceremony and reception yesterday, with various high profile guests in attendance, including Edmund Ho Hau Wah, Macao’s former chief executive.

The Banyan Tree Zhuhai Phoenix Bay is built on a stretch of private coastline, with views of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and Sun Moon Bay. Its 83 rooms and suites start at 87 square metres in size and all come with private onsen baths, while others have both onsen and private swimming pools.

The four food and beverage outlets include Xun, an upscale restaurant dedicated to the Minnan cuisine of southern Fujian. Rong offers dim sum and all day dining, while the Bang bar offers over 60 whiskeys and small plates. A lobby lounge, Mirror, serves light refreshments and afternoon tea.

The hotel spa offers a range of massages and restorative treatments. Other facilities also include an infinity pool, fitness center, yoga room, and scenic seaside walking trail.

Two special packages are available to mark the hotel’s opening, and include benefits such as dining discounts, room upgrades, wellness treatments and other perks.

The opening of the Banyan Tree Zhuhai Phoenix Bay comes after the August openings of Angsana Zhoushan and Homm Wenzhou Nanxijiang in Zhejiang Province – two other brands in the Banyan Tree stable. China is Banyan Tree’s largest market, and it operates nearly 40 hotels in the country and 100 worldwide.
