The Macau government decided to bring an end to its consideration of the possibility of tourist tax imposition, according to a Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) statement today.

Findings of MGTO survey on the possible implementation of a tourist tax shows 95% of local residents support such a tax, while 80% of those in the tourism sector oppose it.
According to Senna Fernandes, the objective of the survey is to “broadly listen” to local people’s views on the feasibility of implementing the tourist tax.
