Macau’s number of visitor arrivals dropped 99.7% year-on-year to 11,041 last month, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) announced today.
Macau’s population rose to 696,100 at the end of the first quarter, an increase of 16,500 people from the end of last year.
Macau’s number of guests of hotel and guesthouses dropped 79.7% year-on-year to 240,000 in March.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Macau’s number of visitor arrivals fell 93.7% year-on-year to 212,311 last month.
Macau’s composite consumer price index (CPI) rose 2.47 per cent year-on-year last month, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) said in a statement today.
Macau recorded its hottest year in 2019 since official records began in 1952.
Unemployment rate of local residents now at 2.6%, up by 0.2 and 0.3 percentage points respectively from the previous period (November 2019-January 2020).
