Executive Council spokesman Leong Heng Teng has announced that the government has finished drafting local legislation for the country’s National Anthem Law to be applied in Macau.
Secretary for Administration and Justice Sonia Chan Hoi Fan said Wednesday that the Macau government will need to draft related local legislation after the National Anthem Law is included in the Macau Basic Law’s Annex 3 in the future.
China’s top legislature heard draft decisions to apply the newly- adopted National Anthem Law in the Hong Kong and Macau SARs. This means people who disrespect the national anthem or flag in public may face jail terms of up to three years.
Secretary for Administration and Justice Sonia Chan Hoi Fan said Sunday that if the central government promulgates a law on the national anthem in the future, it would also be implemented in Macau.
