Typhoon signal No. 8NE was issued at 7:30 am and will remain in effect this morning, according to the Macao Meteorological and Geophysical Services (SMG).
Signal No. 3 was hoisted at 8 pm on Monday as tropical storm “Nangka” was about 440 kilometres south of Macao as it was heading towards Hainan, and with a northeast monsoon lurking in the South China Sea, the possibility of issuing the Typhoon Signal No. 8 at dawn was “medium to relatively high”, the local weather station forecast late last night.
Typhoon Signal No. 3 was hoisted today at 8 pm by the Macao Meteorological and Geophysical Services (SMG).
The Macao Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) lowered all its typhoon signals at 3:30 pm today.
The Macao Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) will lower the signal level to Signal No. 3 at 11:30 am this morning as local winds will weaken. This will replace the Signal No. 8NE hoisted at 7:30 am earlier in the day.

The Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau issued the third level of a storm surge warning that the flood level is forecast to reach between 1 metre and 1.5 metres above the road level in the Inner Harbour area.
