The proportion of non-local business in Macau’s banking sector rebounded in the first quarter, the Macau Monetary Authority (AMCM) said in a statement on Monday.
The total number of personal credit cards issued by banks in Macau continued to rise in the first quarter, but both credit card turnover and repayments recorded year-on-year declines.
The collection process for government-issued consumption subsidy smartcards kicked off yesterday, and by 6 p.m. over 25,000 residents had collected their cards. The process was carried out in a “good order”.
The registration for government-issued smartcards will end next Wednesday and all work related to the collection of the smartcards has been completed.

Registration for consumption smart cards begins at 9 a.m. tomorrow, with the website being able to process 250,000 registrations per hour.
The Macau Monetary Authority lowered its base rate (BR) of the discount window by 64 basis points to 0.86%.
