The iconic dance, included on the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List, was suspended during the Covid-19 pandemic.

After a three-year hiatus, the iconic event will take place in September and October, featuring 10 competitors from Japan, Portugal, mainland China and elsewhere.
Cultural Affairs Bureau president Leong Wai Man says the event, drawing large numbers of spectators and international participants before its suspension in 2020, will be held in the first half of 2024.
The “2017 Macao International Parade”, in celebration of the 18th anniversary of Macau’s Handover to China, will be held on the 17 December with 49 local and 15 foreign groups.
