Rules aim to bridge differences between Macao and mainland China and speed up development of Hengqin.

The new Macao-mainland joint border checkpoint on Hengqin Island will come into service at 3 pm next Tuesday when Macao’s Lotus Flower checkpoint in Cotai will be relocated there, the Macao Government Information Bureau (GCS) announced in a statement last night.
The Macau government recently proposed to the central government that Macau’s Lotus Flower Bridge border checkpoint be moved from Cotai to Hengqin Island in Zhuhai.
