Secretary for Security Wong Sio Chak said that the police have noted that the number of Hong Kong people smuggling drugs into Macau has been on the rise since the opening of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge (HZMB) in late October last year.

The Pearl River Delta’s mammoth bridge inaugurated by President Xi Jinping on Tuesday had a “smooth” start Wednesday, Macau’s transport chief said.
The Macau government is putting all its efforts into completing the Macau boundary crossing area of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao (HKZM) Bridge before the end of the year, according to an official statement.
