The police implemented official crowd control measures on three consecutive days, between Sunday and Tuesday, across the city centre in response to the huge number of tourists visiting the area during the Chinese New Year (CNY) holiday period.

A total of 614,357 visitor arrivals were recorded between Friday, the eve of the Chinese New Year (CNY), and Tuesday, the fourth day of the CNY, an increase of 5.7 per cent compared to last year’s Chinese New Year period, according to official statistics released by the Macau Government Tourism Office.
