The Macau Sports Bureau (ID) has announced that in response to the latest development of the novel coronavirus pandemic, the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) has cancelled the Volleyball Nations League (VNL) 2020.

According to a statement by the bureau on Friday, the Organising Committee of the FIVB Women’s Volleyball Nations League Macau has been notified by the federation that, “after thorough consideration”, this year’s Volleyball Nations League has been cancelled.

The FIVB Women’s Volleyball Nations League Macau 2020 was originally scheduled to take place from June 2 to 4 at the Macau Forum complex as one leg of the Volleyball Nations League 2020.

Macau has hosted international volleyball competitions for over two decades. Gaming operator Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) has been the local leg’s title sponsor for a number of years.

Volleyball is one of the most popular sports in Macau.
