Typhoon Signal No 8 was replaced by Typhoon Signal 3 at 8:30 pm today. As Typhoon Chaba gradually weakens and moves away from Macao, very strong winds in Macao have also eased however winds, severe showers and thunderstorms are still expected to continue overnight. At 9 pm, Typhoon Chaba was located about 300 km west of Macao and was making its way inland.

Typhoon Signal 8 was hoisted at 9:30 pm last night and remained in force for 21 hours. For almost 24 hours, the city was battered by strong winds and floods were reported across the city from the Inner Harbour area to Coloane.

Macao’s Civil Protection Operation Centre reported 25 incidents such as fallen objects and collapsing scaffoldings cause by the typhoon today. One person was injured, the centre said.
