The Macao Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) will issue the Tropical Cyclone Signal No. 8 at 23:30 tonight, according to a statement made by the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) this evening. Currently, tropical Cyclone Signal No. 3 will remain in effect until then.

The “orange” storm surge warning had been since 8:30 pm. tonight.

With typhoon “Higos” located about 170 km southeast of Macao and moving towards the west of the Pearl River Estuary, the local winds are expected to strengthen.

According to the SMG website, “the winds over the bridges are expected to be strong and gusty; drivers are advised to pay attention to traffic safety. Motorcyclists should travel between Macao Peninsula and Taipa Island through motorcycle lane on Sai Van Bridge.”
