Visits to the prison and juvenile detention centre in Coloane will be resumed today, while outdoor activities for prisoners and juvenile detainees are also starting up again. Visits were suspended on 4 July in response to the recent Covid-19 outbreak.

The Correctional Services Bureau noted that visitors such as lawyers entering the prison and juvenile detention centre must hold a valid negative nucleic acid test (NAT) result within 48 hours and a negative rapid antigen test (RAT) result for the day, wear a facemask in accordance with the government’s standards, undergo a temperature check, show their Macao Health Code, and scan the venue QR code at the site.

The Social Welfare Bureau (IAS) announced in a statement yesterday that its Subsidised creches and care homes for senior citizens will also resume normal operations today.

The Social Welfare Bureau noted that the service quotas for childcare centres will be resumed to their original operating capacity, while the closed-loop management for the city’s 36 elderly care homes will be removed and re-opened for visitations starting today.

The bureau underlined that if the senior citizen in the home has not been vaccinated against Covid-19, their visiting relatives and friends must show a valid negative NAT result within 48 hours.

However, if the elderly relative has already been vaccinated, his or her visitors can present either a valid negative NAT result for seven days or a completed Covid-19 vaccination record of at least two doses, The Macau Post Daily reported.
