Only three patients are still under treatment for COVID 19 after one more of Macau’s 45 COVID-19 patients was discharged from hospital today, according to the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre.

The discharged patient is a 28-year-old local male Macau resident who returned to Macau on March 22 from the United Kingdom.

He had gone into medical observation in one of Macau’s government-designated “quarantine hotels” before being diagnosed with the novel coronavirus disease on March 25.

Upon his discharge today, he will start his 14-day recovery period isolation in the Public Health Clinical Centre in Coloane.

12th mask distribution to begin May 12

The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre also announced today during a press conference that the 12th mask distribution will start on May 12.

They have called on the public’s cooperation not to rush within the first two days to avoid crowds gathering and long waiting lines.

There will be a total of 84 distribution points, the same as those in the 11th round. Children’s masks will also be available.

Batches of 10 adult-sized masks, as well as batches of five adult-sized masks and five child-size masks will be available to all residents and non-resident workers.

Primary classes to resume in two stages

Meanwhile, officials from the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau (DSEJ) said that P4-6 students are scheduled to resume classes on May 25 and P1-3 are scheduled to resume classes on June 1.

The decision was taken after consultations with the Health Bureau (SSM) and hearing their professional opinion that indicates it was “feasible to resume the primary school classes in stages”.
