The Marine and Water Bureau (DSAMA) and Public Security Police (PSP) have already started taking over some areas of the long-delayed Pac On Ferry Terminal in Taipa which is now slated to be operational early next year, Secretary for Transport and Public Works Raimundo do Rosario said on Thursday.
The policy secretary apologised for delaying the operational start of the terminal one more time.
Rosario expressed his apologise on the sidelines of an inspection tour of the terminal.
Rosario said that according to the previously adjusted project schedule, the terminal should have been operational next month.
“I think I was too optimistic then [when considering when operations would start] …now there will be [another] six-month delay. The terminal is [now] slated to start operating early next year,” he said, adding, “I am sorry… I should be held responsible [for the delay].”
Rosario also said that total spending on the terminal now stood at about 3.8 billion patacas, adding the total size of the terminal was about 300,000 square metres.
Construction of the terminal started in 2005, which was originally scheduled to be completed in 2007. The planned size of the terminal at that time was about 100,000 square metres while the budget for the project then was 580 million patacas.
