The Macau government announced today that it will temporarily use the Sheraton Hotel – in Cotai – as the 12th quarantine hotel.

According to authorities, they have reserved 2,000 rooms at Sheraton Hotel for all arrivals to be placed under medical observation. At first, only 500 rooms will be used, then adjusted as necessary.

The Sheraton Hotel is a large-scale hotel, connected to shopping malls, restaurants, and other hotels. Therefore, before selecting it as a designated hotel, representatives from the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO), Health Bureau (SSM) and engineering staff came to check its facilities.

At present, the “special isolated area of the Sheraton Hotel” is completely closed to the shopping malls, restaurants and other hotels. Residents enter the special isolated area through independent entrances.

The other 11 are Pousada Marina Infante Hotel, Golden Crown China Hotel, Regency Art Hotel, Grand Coloane Resort, Metropole Hotel, Treasure Hotel, San Tung Fong Commercial Inn South Wing, Grand Lapa Hotel, Grand Harbour Hotel, Royal Dragon Hotel and Jai Alai Hotel.

The 12 hotels provide a total of 4,534 rooms.
