The Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) said in a statement on Thursday that it has been providing career matching activities for jobseekers, based on 2,600 jobs offered by the city’s large-scale leisure enterprises.

The statement pointed out that due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the local employment and labour markets, the bureau has further “optimised its employment matching process”, in order to help jobseekers get back into employment as soon as possible.

The statement pointed out that the bureau is recommending jobseekers to potential employers.

According to the statement, local companies in the leisure sector have over 2,600 job vacancies, such as for cleaners, catering, receptionists, security personnel, chefs and engineering maintenance professionals.

According to the statement, the bureau organised a seminar on Thursday for jobseekers in the tourism industry, briefing them on industry updates as well as information on job vacancies. The bureau vowed to continue its employment matching activities for jobseekers, in order to ease local residents’ current difficulties in finding a job. The statement did not say where the seminar took place.

Based on the jobseeking service provided by the bureau from February 17 to March 24 (Tuesday), 431 workers from the construction industry found jobs introduced to them by the bureau, the statement said.

Jobseekers can visit the bureau’s official website at www.dsal.gov.mo and register for employment opportunities, or call the bureau’s hotline 2872 2108 during office hours.
