China has appointed Xia Baolong, the vice-chairman of its top political advisory body, as director of the Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office of the State Council.

China has appointed Xia Baolong, the vice-chairman of its top political advisory body, as director of the Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office of the State Council, according to official media.

Official news agency Xinhua said the former director Zhang Xiaoming was reappointed as deputy director in charge of daily operations of the HKMAO.

Fu Ziying and Lou Huining, Beijing’s top representatives in Macau and Hong Kong, will double as deputy directors of the HKMAO.
