A boy who ran out into a three-lane road from a bus parked near the airport was hit by a man on his scooter who was driving in the right-hand lane, sending both falling to the ground, a video of the incident at about 8 am circulating on social media on Monday shows.

According to the Fire Services Bureau (CB), the traffic accident happened in Avenida do Aeroporto near the Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST).

The CB statement on Monday said that the 51-year-old local man who was on the scooter sustained multiple cuts and the level of his consciousness was dropping while he was being taken to the public Conde de São Januário Hospital Centre.

The 12-year-old local boy sustained cuts on his left leg and right ear. He was reportedly in a stable condition when he was being taken to the public hospital.

According to a statement by the Public Security Police (PSP), a “pedestrian facility” is located some 15 metres from where the accident happened, pointing out that the boy did not use that facility to cross the road.

Unconfirmed reports last night said that the boy is a pupil of the nearby The International School (TIS).
