President Xi Jinping will visit Macau from Wednesday to Friday, Xinhua reported on Friday.

According to Xinhua, Xi will attend a gathering marking the 20th anniversary of Macau’s return to the motherland.

Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), will also be present at the inauguration ceremony of the fifth-term government of the Macau Special Administrative Region (MSAR).

According to the Macau Post Daily, Xi will also inspect the MSAR, Xinhua said.

The president’s last visit to Macau took place in December 2014 for the 15th anniversary of Macau’s return to the motherland and the swearing-in ceremony of re-elected Chief Executive Fernando Chui Sai on and other principal officials. Xi, who was born on June 15, 1953, has been general secretary of the CPC since November 2012 and president of since March 2013. He visited Macau during his tenure as vice-president between 2008 and 2013.
