Beijing, China, 13 Aug – China’s President Hu Jintao met  Wednesday with Macau’s new Chief Executive Fernando Chui Sai On and expressed the central government’s trust and support to him, according to Xinhua news agency.

"Macau is right now at a fresh historic starting point.As the new chief executive of the Macau Special Administration Region (SAR) , you shoulder great responsibilities" , he said.

Hu Jintao also said that "The central government believes that you will stick to the principles of ‘one country, two systems’ and unite the new SAR government and the whole of the society to promote every aspect of Macao to a new level.

Speaking at  the central leadership compound of Zhongnanhai, in Beijing, the chinese president said that "Practices prove that the principles of ‘one country, two systems’ are the essential guarantee for Macau’s long-term stability and prosperity".

"The people in Macau are fully capable of building a better Macau" Hu added.

Chui Sai On said he will work hard " to live up to the expectations of the central government and the Macau people".

The State Council (Cabinet) agreed Monday to appoint Chui Sai On as the Macau SAR’s new Chief Executive to substitute Edmond Ho Hau Wah on  20th December this year.

Chui, 52, the only contender in the third chief executive election of the Macau SAR, was declared the winner on July 26.
