Prices in Macau rose 5.10 percent in March year-on-year driven by the increase in income from house rental prices and the cost of meals bought away from home, reported the Statistics and Census Bureau.

Year-on-year the most significant increases were in the indices of Housing and Fuel (+10.58 percent), Health (+5.71 percent) and Food and non-alcoholic beverages (+5.48 percent).

In March, the Consumer Price Index increased by 0.19 percent compared to February due to rising prices in the categories of Household Equipment and Products of Daily Use (+1.69 percent) and transport (+1.52 percent).

The inflation rate, measured by the average of the indices of the last 12 months against the preceding 12 months, stood at 5.77 percent due to substantial increases in the categories of Housing and Fuel (+11.67 percent), Food & Non-alcoholic beverages (+5.75 percent) and Health (+4.82 percent).
