Annual inflation in Macau in June continued to slow down, posting an increase of 2.26 per cent year on year, or a decrease of 0.38 percentage points compared to May, reported the city’s Statistics and Census Bureau.

Growth in June was mainly due mainly to rising car park rates as well as the prices of meals bought outside the home and tobacco, the Bureau said.

In June, the consumer price index increased 0.11 per cent compared to May 2016, mainly due to price increases in the categories of Alcoholic Beverages & Tobacco (+2.88 per cent) and Clothing and Footwear (+1.71 per cent).

The inflation rate measured by the average of the indices of the last 12 months over the previous 12 months increased by 3.67 per cent, the lowest since at least 2011, according to a chart provided by the Statistics and Census Bureau. (Macau News/Macauhub)
