Prices in Macau in February rose by 0.37% year-on-year, “a substantial slowdown compared to the annual growth recorded in January (+1.76%),” due to the decrease observed in the prices of excursions and vegetables, reported Macau’s Statistics and Census Bureau.

The increase in February, according to the Bureau, was due to the rise in the prices of meals bought outside the home, gasoline, automobiles, car park prices and school fees.

The consumer price index fell by 0.42% in February on a monthly basis, compared to January, due to lower prices of excursions after the Lunar New Year along with winter clothing and footwear sales.

The inflation rate, measured by the average of the indices of the last 12 months compared the previous 12 months, grew by 1.91%, compared with an increase of 4.36% registered in February 2016.
