Macau’s import of handbags and wallets in November 2014 fell 25 percent year-on-year to 242 million patacas, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) has announced.

Handbags and wallets are popular with shoppers from the mainland.

In the first nine months of last year, the import of handbags and wallets dropped six percent.

Gold jewelry imports dropped two percent to 963 million patacas in November. January-November imports of gold jewelry rose five percent to 9.03 billion patacas.

Watch imports fell eight percent in November to 636 million patacas. In the first nine of months of last year, imports of watches rose 33 percent.

Mobile phone imports leapt 25 percent to 1.02 billion patacas in November. January-November imports of mobile phones rose 17 percent to 6.4 billion patacas.

Imports of cars and scooters dropped 28 percent to 276 million patacas.

Imports of cars and scooters between January-November last year increased 12 percent to 3.4 billion patacas.
