Over 1,000 enterprises from about 50 countries and regions are showing their products and services at the 22nd Macau International Trade and Investment Fair (MIF), hoping to network and get into partnerships with those along the “Belt and Road” (B&R), an initiative of the central government to promote global economic development by connecting Asia, Europe and Africa , according to a statement by the Macau Trade and Investment Promotion (IPIM), the annual fair’s organiser.

The fair opened Thursday alongside the “2017 Portuguese-speaking Countries Products and Services Exhibition” (PLPEX). Both fairs will close today. Chief Executive Fernando Chui Sai On and Secretary for Economy and Finance Lionel Leong Vai Tac attended the opening ceremony.

Both events, according to the MIF statement, will join hands with enterprises to advance the central government’s B&R Initiative, Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area (GBA) project and Business and Macau’s role as trade cooperation service platform between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, as well as to promote the diversification of Macau’s economy.
