Travellers arriving in Macao from certain districts in Yunnan, Shaanxi and Guizhou provinces face mandatory medical observation, the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre has warned.

They must undergo medical observation in a “designated place” for 14 days from the date when they left the areas in question, however this period cannot be less than seven days.

The new regulation was introduced as the pandemic threatens to spiral out of control in certain parts of the mainland.

The areas under the spotlight are:

 – A number of locations in Yunnan Province’s Anning County in Kunming City
 – Villages in Shaanxi Province’s Pucheng County of Weinan City
 – Some areas in the Qixingguan District of Bijie City of Guizhou Province

Anyone who has visited these places and who has entered Macao will see their Health Code turned to yellow. During the medical observation period, they will need to take five nucleic acid tests (NAT).
