The 4,000-room Sheraton in Cotai, which had allotted half its rooms for patients during the current Covid-19 emergency, will end its role as a quarantine hotel on 13 December and revert to normal operations.

It is also believed that Regency Art Hotel on Taipa will cease its quarantine role on 15 December.

According to the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), currently 984 people – 459 Macao residents, 44 foreign employees and 481 tourists – are under medical observation in the city.

Some 262 are in designated medical observation hotels, 652 in self-selected medical observation hotels – the Grand Coloane Resort and the Lisboeta in Cotai – and 70 in the quarantine facility at Treasure Hotel next to the airport.
