The Macao government has determined that from Tuesday, 19 October (00:00), entertainment venues can re-open.

The decision was taken after 11 consecutive days of no confirmed positive Covid-19 cases which could have posed a risk of community transmission in Macao.

To prevent the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng had determined on 6 October that cinemas, theatres, indoor playgrounds, game consoles and electronic game rooms would close. Internet cafes, billiard rooms, bowling alleys, steam baths, massage parlours, beauty salons, fitness salons, health clubs, karaoke venues, bars, nightclubs, discos and dance halls would also need to shutter until further notice.

According to a Government Information Bureau statement, “after the third city-wide NAT and high frequency NATs imposed on target groups” all results were shown as negative showing a reduction in the risk of  a community transmission of the virus.
