A total of 88 new confirmed cases in the past day have brought Macao’s Covid-19 tally to 1,303 cases as of midnight last night, announced the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre.

Among the new cases, 31 were found under management and control in red zones and medical observation hotels, 13 among close contacts, 33 in the mass NAT and the key groups’ NAT, while 11 cases were detected in the community.

The centre also announced that, as of 8 am today, there are 17,378 individuals under follow up, among them 2,722 close contacts, 10,096 people with overlapping itineraries, 811 secondary contacts, 255 general contacts and 734 accompanying persons.

Macao began the sixth citywide mass nucleic acid testing (NAT) today, with the adjusted time of 6 am, and will conclude at 6 pm tomorrow. It is mandatory for everyone in Macao to take the test

A negative rapid test (RAT) must first be done before going to a NAT centre, with the result uploaded onto the Macao Health Code. Only those with negative results can go to the NAT centres, while people with positive results must immediately contact 119, 120 or 2857 2222 for an ambulance.

Those failing to do the test by 6 pm tomorrow will be assigned a yellow health code and taken by the police to a designated venue for the test. People who refused to do the test will be subject to mandatory 14-day medical observation at a designated location.

Meanwhile, the fifth mass NAT concluded yesterday with a total of 667,597 samples collected, among which 31 batches of pooled samples (10 individual samples per pooled sample) have tested positive, while the rest are negative, according to the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre.
