An 87-year-old local woman has been confirmed dead after “falling” from a building in Rua Norte do Patane.
Judiciary Police spokeswoman Lei Hon Nei said that the Fire Services Bureau reported at 9:56 am yesterday that a woman had died after “falling from a height”. Lei added that a cleaner of the building had found the victim lying in the car park on the building’s third floor earlier that morning.
Lei noted that the victim lived alone in a flat in the building, and she had often told her family about her unhappiness, leading to depression.
The victim had told her family by phone at 8 am that she felt troubled by the gossip of her neighbours. Afterwards, she took the lift alone to an upper floor and walked to the building’s back stairs. It is believed that she fell from a staircase window.
No suicide note was found at the scene.
A preliminary examination of the body showed that the injuries were consistent with a fall from a height; there were no suspected criminal injuries on the body.
The exact cause of death would be confirmed after a forensic examination, The Macau Post Daily reported.
