Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) Executive Director Irene Lau On Monday, Kuan Va said the joint budget for this week’s 2016 Macau Franchise Expo (MFE) and 2016 Guangdong & Macau Branded Products Fair (GMBPF) will be about 16 million patacas.

Lau made the remarks during a press conference about the two fairs.

The fairs will be jointly held at the Venetian from Friday to Sunday.

The annual MFE, first held in 2009, aims to attract investors from around the world seeking business opportunities and establishing contacts with industry players, according to the press conference.

The annual GMBPF, which also began in 2009, will include trade negotiations, cultural exchanges, shopping, leisure and entertainment. The fair is co-organised by IPIM and the Department of Commerce of Guangdong province.

Lau said the budget was planned to be 8 million patacas for each of the two fairs this year.

According to Lau, MFE cost 7.7 million patacas last year, adding that this year’s budget has been increased since more than 50 enterprises from Indonesia will join the fair this year.

Lau said she believed that holding the two fairs together was more expedient.
