Philosopher, physician, politician and the man credited as the ‘father of the Chinese republic’, Dr Sun Yat-sen, once used this medical base some time before 1892. Acquired by the government in 2011, its antiquated features and furniture were restored and preserved to look the way they would have done in the 1890s, while modern amenities like plumbing and electricity were also installed. For those curious to learn about Dr Sun and his contributions to medicine, this pharmacy is a treasure trove of information while also being a profoundly interesting architectural study of how new and old can be intertwined. Another bonus is that it’s down the street from the Sound of the Century museum.
