The Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) said in a statement on Thursday that it received 1,618 applications for its paid internship scheme.
The scheme comprises 1,800 internship positions for local university graduates, the statement noted.
Due to some internship positions receiving more applications than the number of interview slots, the bureau selected interviewees through a lucky draw on Tuesday, and the list of interviewees has been released on the bureau’s official website yesterday, the statement said.
Considering there are still places for some positions, the bureau said it would contact applicants who did not receive any interview invitations to ask them if they would like to be interviewed for any of the remaining positions, the statement underlined.
Applicants can visit the bureau’s official website at www.dsal.gov.mo for further details on the positions they will be interviewed for from the middle of this month, the statement noted.
If an interviewee is successful, he or she will be provided with a 3-month paid internship. The first round of internships is slated to start in late July, the statement said.
According to a government statement on 23 June, the government is paying close attention to young people’s employment prospects, and in order to give university graduates some career experience through internships and strengthen their career competitiveness and employment opportunities, the bureau is promoting this scheme.
The local companies which are participating in the programme will offer posts related to engineering, information technology (IT), customer services, catering, human resources, procurement, finance, facility management and operations, the statement noted.
The internship scheme will be carried out in two batches, in July and August.
The statement did not elaborate on whether applicants can apply for internships in both batches.
During the internship, the participating companies will either pay MOP 8,000 per month or MOP 50 per hour to each intern, and the interns will be covered by insurance, the statement noted.
